Our Company History
HOW WE ENDED UP IN THE DRIVE-THRU BUSINESS
Our story starts a long way from the drive-thru lane. Long before the first Avio kit ever shipped, our engineers were building intercom systems for banks, hospitals, and schools — the kind of places where “good enough” isn’t good enough. Somewhere along the way, we noticed the same problem in a completely different industry: restaurant owners stuck choosing between clunky, overpriced enterprise gear or unreliable off-the-shelf equipment that couldn’t survive a Texas summer or a Michigan winter. So we built something in between — a sales and support team in Georgetown, Texas, paired with a manufacturing and warehousing operation in Troy, Michigan’s “Automation Valley.” Texas hustle on the phone, Michigan precision on the assembly line — it’s why an Avio kit shows up already wired and tested, ready to bolt down, instead of a pile of parts and a prayer.
The moment that really put us on the map came during COVID-19, when drive-thru lanes went from a convenience to a lifeline almost overnight, and ours kept working when it mattered most — a story Fox 2 Detroit picked up as part of local tech helping small businesses stay open. We’ve kept building around that same idea ever since: support small operators the way the big chains support themselves. UPS now commits to daily pickups from our facilities to keep urgent orders moving, and a growing network of dealers carries Avio kits into markets we can’t reach on our own — not bad for a company that started out fixing intercoms in bank lobbies.
